Share your voice

We want to collect reflections about notable aspects of your professional career.  Of particular interest would be:

  • Setting and challenges of your first job: the physical landscape and resource situation of the forests, lands and waters where you worked; and the life and people of that workplace.
  • How you and/or your career changed over the years: your expectations vs. real world, be it time spent in the forest industry, Forest Service administration and research (USA and abroad), higher education, NGOs, etc.
  • How your education at the University of Michigan and SNRE influenced your life and career.
  • Stories of danger and intrigue from the workplace, especially the ones too good to be true.
  • Insights for aspiring professionals in today's world.

Please include as much contact information as you are comfortable sharing.  In this way, we can facilitate connections among your classmates and the school family in general.

Got something on your mind? Above all, we encourage your questions about the school, past and present, to make this an interactive newsletter.  And we’ll respond with snappy answers!  For example, what’s happening with the forest properties?  Does CFR still exist?  Will the winter Olympics of 2014 actually be held at Gibbs City?  What is the Ford Commons?  How “green” is Dana?  Do students still ride in benches in the back of trucks?  What ever happened to (insert name of your friend here)? We’ll find out and let you know!
