Advocates for protection of the Great Lakes are awaiting a Senate vote that would provide at least $400 million in additional restoration funding, set to focus on deterring invasives, creating jobs, and dealing with pollution.  Michigan Sea Grant project cooordinator Lynn Vaccaro predicts that nearly a third of the funding could aid state programs, according to an article in The Detroit News.
