Wyss Conservation Scholars -- Nicholas Deyo and Clayton Elliott for 2008-2010

Announcing the 2008-2010 Michigan cohort of Wyss Conservation Scholars --

Nicholas Deyo and Clayton Elliott.

Nick is a student in the MLA program who graduated with a degree in

ecology from the University of Montana, was a Peace Corps volunteer in

Western Samoa and worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Missoula.

Clayton is a student in the environmental policy and planning MS

program who graduated with degrees in environment and economics from

the University of Wyoming, and has worked for the Wyoming State

Legislature.

The Wyss Foundation created the Wyss Scholars Program for the

Conservation of the American West to recognize and support future

leaders in western land conservation.  They focus specifically on the

Inter-mountain West -- the band of states ranging from Arizona and New

Mexico north to Montana and Idaho.

Michigan is one of four universities to host Wyss Scholars, an honor

that recognizes SNRE's national impact in producing leaders in

environmental NGOs and government agencies.  The Foundation came to

SNRE looking to expand their program largely because of the reputation

of our alumni working across the Western U.S.  They continue to be

pleased with their choice because of the phenomenal quality and

passion of our students.

Congratulations to Nick and Clayton as they join our

other two resident Wyss Scholars, Heath Nero and Liz Nysson.
