SNRE Professor Gladwin gives climate, carbon lectures as visiting scholar at Northwestern
Thomas N. Gladwin, a professor at the School of Natural Resources and Environment and Ross School of Business, will give a series of lectures next week on carbon and climate policy at the Northwestern Institute for Sustainable Practices (NiSP).
Professor Gladwin is speaking as part of the Visiting Faculty program at the Institute, which is part of Northwestern University. The public lecture dates are:
- Oct. 20, 12:30 p.m., Tech Buildings, Room L211. The topic: "Transforming Our Minds to Ensure a Sustainable Future." The lecture is co-sponsored by OneBook, One Northwestern.
- Oct. 21, 12:15 p.m., Jacobs Center, Room 561. The topic: "Shaping the Minds of Leaders for Sustainable Enterprising." The lecture is co-sponsored by Kellogg School of Management.
Professor Gladwin will also present "Global Megaforces: Shaping Prospects for a Sustainable Human Future" for faculty at the Northwestern Law School Oct. 22.
In addition to being the Max McGraw Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, Professor Gladwin is associate director of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. His current and future research centers on establishing and promulgating a science of sustainable enterprise, a new transdisciplinary field addressing relationships among ecosystems, social systems, economic systems and organizational systems.
The NiSP promotes interdisciplinary education and research into economically, environmentally and socially sound policies and practices that will help secure the earth's natural resources for use now and far into the future. By convening experts from many disciplines, NiSP works to develop the integrated approaches that are essential for a swift transition to sustainable practices, in sectors ranging from energy to transportation to urban planning and ecological restoration.
