Living expenses are the most variable part of a student’s budget. Costs for books and supplies varies by field of study, course load and selected classes. Reduce costs by comparing prices, buying used books, renting books or using the university library and book reserves system. Reduce, reuse, repair, repurpose, recycle. Economize by through cohabitation, eating at home, and using the university’s many resources from fitness facilities to computer labs. Rates reflect actual tuition and fees for the entire 2016-2017 academic year. Rates are updated each July by the U-M Board of Regents.
