This course focuses on the ecological processes and conservation management tools relevant to the survival of free-ranging mammal, bird, reptile and amphibian populations. Students will utilize a diversity of approaches ranging from computer exercises to field research to address wildlife ecology and conservation issues. Topics discussed include wildlife habitat assessment, population abundance and density estimates, nutritional ecology, wildlife disease management, as well as endangered species restoration, both in an US and international context.
