NRE 563 uses a cases study approach to introduce SNRE MS students to international environmental governance. It focuses on five key actors of environmental governance in international context: national governments and their agencies, non-government organizations, donors, local populations, and corporations. Students will read and analyze a series of case studies as a means to learn about major governance issues and concepts and will identify key recommendations for decision makers. The instructor appointed for this course will assist with the identification and finalization of case studies of governance (15%), case analysis (15%), application of an analytical framework focusing on actors, interests/objectives, options, criteria, and recommendations (20%), grading (20%) and discussion sections (30%). Familiarity with the case method and international governance issues is a plus.
